Every Mind Matters has some great videos with useful tips and advice to help you look after your own and your children’s wellbeing.
During these difficult times, we understand that it may be difficult to explain to your children what is happening in the world around us. It can be difficult to understand how much to explain without causing any unnecessary worries for your children.
In order to support you with supporting your children, we have created a list of resources of which we feel might be helpful in providing strategies to help to stay emotionally healthy in such unusual, strange times. The Department for Education – They have provided guidance on Coronavirus which is regularly updated and provides necessary guidance to stay safe.
Young Minds – They have some fantastic support in offering strategies and resources to support your emotional wellbeing whilst self-isolating.
Mrs James – Has produced a fantastic slideshow in supporting our families and children to stay emotionally and mentally healthy.
Mental Health Foundation – They have released guidance on how to approach the scary news from our world with your children.
Money Saving Expert – We are all facing many different challenges, economic, emotional and practical challenges are some of the strains we are feeling right now. Martin Lewis’ website is a great site to visit for useful information and advice, it is also updated regularly.
Mind – This is a site which offers something for everyone on how to care for mental wellbeing during isolation. It has tips and ideas as well as advice about managing existing mental health conditions.
Parent Info – As parents we spent most of our time thinking about how to make things OK for our children. Remember how important you are, Parent Info has some nice ideas for being kind to yourself as well as your children. Treat yourself to some ‘me time’ – you’re worth it!
NHS – The NHS have also published this fantastic guide. It is informative, useful and includes lots of websites that you may find helpful.
Change4Life – Keeping our bodies as well as our minds healthy can often be challenging. The NHS Change4Life website has some great information and advice including new recipes to try and ideas for keeping active both indoors and outside.
Mind Up – Since 2003, MindUP has been helping children develop the mental fitness necessary to thrive in school and throughout their lives. It stresses the importance of Brain Breaks and has techniques to try.
The Wellness Society – Has a good range of information, resources and activities to help you through challenging times.
Trauma Informed UK Schools – Have produced a support document to support your child during their first day back at school. It gives you tips and advice with preparations for your child’s return to school.
Mentally Healthy Schools – Have provided a very useful resource in supporting your child. Change can be difficult for children, have a look at the ‘mentally healthy schools’ top ten ways for parents to help children cope with any kind of change.
