Father Simon came to visit us to talk to us about what happens when a baby is baptised. He brought an ‘alb’ with him, explaining that this is the white garment worn by priests and he also brought a stole which a priest wears around his neck. Some of the children then took on the roles of the people involved in a Baptism and ‘baptised’ a baby doll. Ben and Ashlyn were the parents and Amelia and Harry were the Godparents. Violet was the Priest and she poured water over the baby’s head while saying, “In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.” Father Simon explained that the most important symbols involved in Baptism are the water and the words of the Sign of the Cross. Amelia wrapped the white garment around the baby. Father Simon was very impressed with all and said that he really enjoyed his visit.
