Our A team footballers continued their excellent season tonight by earning themselves a place in the final of the prestigious Bishops Cup, a competition that began in September with 64 teams entering. The boys battled back after a disappointing 2-1 defeat in the first game against St Michael’s (Durham) before taking 4 points from their final two games to make it through as group runners up. Following a 1-1 draw in the second game against St Columbas (Wallsend), the final game was a must-win against the hosts St Aiden’s (Ashington). Despite going 1-0 down early to a good side, we roared back thanks to second half goals from Max and a late winner from Leo, winning the game 2-1. At times, the boys played with enormous skill, passion and determination and they are undoubtedly one of the strongest teams in the diocese. Congratulations to all! News of the final will be given as soon as possible.
